- your favorite cut of steak: I used sirloin because I am on a budget and I really do not mind it, but feel free to use what ever cut of meat you want.
- salt
- pepper
- garlic powder: the golden rule for steaks is you only season with salt and pepper… I know.. I know.. I am well aware of this. But, for me personally I like the touch of garlic powder to my recipes but you do not need it.
- butter
- olive oil
buttery Dijon Sauce.
- butter melted
- garlic minced
- Dijon mustard
- juice of half a lemon
- chives chopped
- cilantro
- crushed red pepper flakes
- salt & pepper to taste
instructions.
Steak
- Heat oil in a cast iron skillet on stove top over medium heat.
- Cover both sides of steak with salt, pepper, and garlic powder and rub seasonings into steak (this is important). Place steak on hot skillet and let it cook for about 3 minutes before flipping. Flip steak and cook for another 3 minutes.
- Lower heat to medium heat and add butter to skillet.
- Flip again and cook for another 1-4 minutes depending on how you like your steak cooked.
- Remove steak from heat and let it rest for about 7-9 minutes before cutting or serving.
Buttery Dijon Sauce
- In a saucepan mix together all ingredients. Heat over low heat for 2-4 minutes.
- Pour over steak. Optional- top steak with blue cheese crumbles.
