Pan Seared Steak with Buttery Dijon Sauce

The most tender steak topped with a buttery dijon sauce and blue cheese crumbles. You do not need a grill to cook the perfect steak! I will give you my tips & tricks on perfecting a cast iron skillet steak. The buttery dijon sauce is ridiculously delicious and easy to make!

Ingredients

Steak

  • 6-16 oz of your favorite cut of steak
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Buttery Dijon Sauce

  • 3 tbsp butter melted
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ juice of half a lemon
  • ½ tbsp chives chopped
  • 1 tbsp cilantro
  • ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

Steak

  • Heat oil in a cast iron skillet on stove top over medium heat.
  • Cover both sides of steak with salt, pepper, and garlic powder and rub seasonings into steak. Place steak on hot skillet and let it cook for about 3 minutes before flipping. Flip steak and cook for another 3 minutes.
  • Lower heat to medium heat and add butter to skillet.
  • Flip again and cook for another 1-4 minutes depending on how you like your steak cooked.
  • Remove steak from heat and let it rest for about 7-9 minutes before cutting or serving.

Buttery Dijon Sauce

  • In a saucepan mix together all ingredients. Heat over low heat for 2-4 minutes.
  • Pour over steak. Optional- top steak with blue cheese crumbles.
